Sarandë, Albania

About the city

Sarandë (Saranda) is Albania's sunniest coastal town, set on a horseshoe bay across from Corfu. Greek and Albanian languages mix here, espresso is religion and the sea is impossibly blue.

Albanian Lek (ALL). Euros are widely accepted by restaurants and hotels. ATMs everywhere.

Language

Albanian is the official language. Italian, Greek and English are widely spoken in tourism.

Climate

Mediterranean — hot dry summers, mild winters. Best months to visit: May, June, September, October.

Getting around

The town is walkable. Taxis are inexpensive (€3–5 in town). For day trips, hire a car or join a local tour.
